Mr. Eugene Laurian Richmond, Jr., 73, of Lakeland passed away Monday August 3, 2009 at his residence due to complications of bladder cancer.
Mr. Richmond was born March 24, 1936 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Eugene and Katherine Richmond. He moved to Lakeland from Bloomfield Hills, MI in 1988. Mr. Richmond was a former ad director for the Florida Dept of Citrus and American Motors Corporation. He was also a former member of the Indianwood Country Club in Lake Orion, MI.
Eugene is survived by his two sons, Eugene L. Richmond, III and Jeffrey N. Richmond; two daughters, Catherine A. Richmond and Janice M. Richmond; companion, Glenda Clark; three sisters, Ann Whalen, Janet Latour and Mary Lou Chapman; 6 grandchildren, Kayla, Lauren, R.J., Will, Nicole and Connor Richmond and his former wife, Janice B. Richmond of Lakeland.

Mr. O'Brien was born in Whitefield, NH and moved to Lakeland 19 years ago from Glens Falls, NY. He was a School Teacher for Lake George Central School in New York and was a member of Retired NYSRT of Florida. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post 4 and Elks Club #81, St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was a great dad and a wonderful husband.
Mr. O'Brien was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard O'Brien. He is survived by his wife, Gerry O'Brien; daughters, Anne Avery, Kathleen O'Brien, Bridget Gilmore, Maureen O'Brien, and Theresa O'Brien; sisters, Letitia Rollo and Phyllis Stinehour and grandchildren, William, Jacob, Timothy, Justin, Katelyn, Jared, Emily, Abigail and Jack Patrick.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with interment at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or St. Anthony Catholic Church

John P. Silliker, 82, died June 16, 2008, at Consulate Health Care of heart failure due to complications of lung cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary P. Silliker, of Lakeland, and his caring son, Norman G. Silliker, of Hamden, CT. He is also survived by a loving sister, Rosina Mears, of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, a caring niece, Joan Bellefontaine, of Los Angeles, CA, several other nieces, nephews, close cousins, and dear friends.
Mr. Silliker was born in Medford, MA, December 28, 1925. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was stationed in Japan as a member of the Occupational Forces. He eventually settled to raise a family with his wife in Meriden, CT. He was employed as a machine repairman and inspector at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co. in North Haven, CT.
Mr. Silliker retired with his wife to Lakeland in 1990, where he enjoyed taking care of his new home, riding his lawn tractor, making new friends, and fitness walking. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where he served as usher, and he was an active member of Lakeland Masonic Lodge #91, where he served several terms as Chaplain. He was always available to help anyone in need.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Lakeland, on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 8:30 a.m., with a reception to follow at the Parish Center. Burial in Bushnell National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations in Mr. Silliker's memory be made to the St. Anthony's School Endowment Fund, c/o St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Rd., Lakeland, FL 33809

Mary C. Groves, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from renal failure.
Born in Boston, MA she came here in 1992 from Manchester, CT. Mary was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children Kenneth Groves of Hartford, CT, Philip Groves of Mt. Vernon, NY, Paul Groves of Stratford, CT, David Groves of Lakeland, FL, Harriet Zawistowski of Manchester, CT, Janice Wilson of Port Charlotte, FL and Kathryn Douglas of Englewood, FL, and 9 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 South Bartow Highway, on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 6 00 to 8 00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 8 30 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to either Good Shepherd Hospice or the National Kidey Foundation.

Doris A. Orth, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from pulmonary failure. Born in Abbotsford, WI she came here in 1980. Doris was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and was a published poet, having her work published in several of the Salesian Missions, Books of Poems. Survivors include her husband: Joseph D. Orth, son: Joseph P. Ruth Esther Wasserman, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 24, 2008 from complications associated with a fall.
Born on May 9, 1917 in Fremont, Ohio, she moved to Lakeland in 1956. Mrs. Wasserman was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was a registered nurse and worked for Lakeland Regional Medical Center and the Polk County Health Department.
Mrs. Wasserman was preceded in death by her husband, James Wasserman; and son, Alan Wasserman. She is survived by her daughter, Jean B. Water of Kathleen, FL; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. Bartow Road. A service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 8:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road. Interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Jacque McNeight, 89, died May 1, 2008 at Good Shepherd Hospice, Palm Terrace, after a 6 year battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 16, 1918 in Dunkirk, NY and moved to Lakeland 21 years ago. He was a public school teacher for 35 years, served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre and was a life member of the America Legion and the VFW. He earned his BA from Fredonia State College and his MA from New York University. He was a loyal parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church and an active volunteer for the Foxwood Lake Estates Community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret McNeight; sons, Jacque T. McNeight, Timothy McNeight, James McNeight; daughter, Mary Casion; brothers. Gene McNeight and Neil McNeight; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with interment at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The America
Cancer Society.

Lorretta R. Pogorilich, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from cancer.
Born on June 14, 1930 in Providence, RI, she moved to Lakeland in 1990. Lorretta was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edwin T. Pogorilich on September 24, 2007. Survivors include her daughter Linda A. and her husband David Bell of Springfield, MA; sons, David E. and his wife, Diane Pogorilich of Lakeland, John P. Pogorilich of Kissimmee, Alan T. and his wife, Pamela Pogorilich of Rumford, RI, sister, Bernadine Marcetti of Providence; brothers, Richard Hebert of Foster, RI, Charles Hebert of MI, and Frank Hebert of IL., five grandchildren, David E., Michael J., Jennifer, John and Scott, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 South Bartow Highway, on (today) Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
