Welcome to the Saint Anthony Parish Family. I am pleased to extend this greeting on behalf of all who call themselves Saint Anthony Church. The Second Vatican Council clearly states that people are the church. More so than any building, program, or even teaching the church witnesses the presence of Christ to the world through its people. Saint Anthony Catholic Church is abundantly blessed in this regard.

We are a growing parish in the Diocese of Orlando with nearly 2000 registered families. One of our greatest strengths is our growing in size and that we are able to provide a variety of services and programs that help us fulfill our mission as a parish. Ironically, one of our greatest challenges also happens to be our growing numbers. The growth in parishioners pose the risk of individual parishioners becoming lost in all of the activity let alone maintaining a sense of community among so many people.

The intent of this packet is to capitalize on this strength while simultaneously meeting this challenge. These contents are a brief summary of so much of what our parish has to offer. I hope this information serves to expedite your transition into the Saint Anthony Parish Community. This packet can also assist in the future as a reference guide. The amount of activity in a parish growing as ours is so great and diverse that it occasionally becomes difficult to even remember it all. The contents within this folder will help you keep track of all that is offered through our parish.

The opportunities for you to minister abound as seen throughout this packet. One of the most expeditious ways for you to feel at home here is to become an active member of your parish. It was once considered that ministry was reserved to the ordained, professed religious, or professionally trained. Again, Vatican II challenges our understanding of this concept. Ministry is now viewed as the responsibility of all who are baptized. Through this sacrament we all share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ. I invite and encourage you to share in this great work. Together, we are the church, and together we continue the work and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Again, welcome and thank you for choosing Saint Anthony Catholic Church. As in all relationships, may you find your bond to this parish fulfilling, challenging, and inspiring as well. Above all, I hope and pray that these dynamics are mutual and reciprocal so that all of us will continue to grow in the knowledge and love of God.

Together may we always walk in the Light of Christ,

Reverend Nicholas J. O’Brien
Pastor
